The Ins And Outs Of Belly Button Rings

Are you ready for belly button rings? Or maybe the question should be, are you ready to allow your teenager to wear them?

Of course, it's a very personal decision, one that each parent must make along with when is an acceptable age to wear makeup, go on a date, etc. While many may approach piercings as though it were inconsequential, the reality is that there's a certain stigma associated with young age, piercings, and promiscuity. You'll want to carefully think through your decisions.

If you opt for allowing your daughter to get her navel pierced, then the first thing you both should think about is clothing and her preferred shirt length. For several months after a navel piercing, the area will be sensitive to touch. You'll want to make sure that the navel is covered with soft clothing that doesn't pinch or bind in the area and doesn't have any rough seams.

Another factor to wearing belly button rings is overall hygiene. It's important to keep the pierced area clean and dry. Your daughter has to be committed to taking care of her skin and needs to be responsible enough to follow a daily regime. Some teens are simply not responsible enough.

While there are a huge number of belly button rings available for purchase, only a fraction of them may be of a style you consider appropriate for your teenager. Be certain to talk through do's and don'ts so that she understands your expectations.

Lastly, choose a reputable piercing studio with a good name for taking the time necessary to qualm fears about the procedure. Belly button rings can be a fun way for your daughter to express her individuality if you take the time to work through these issues together first.
